Code of Ethics
At Gargoyle Queen Reptiles, our mission is rooted in integrity, science, responsibility, and respect — for our animals, our customers, our community, and the natural world. We are passionate about our lines/projects and look forward to the future we're working towards. This Code of Ethics guides every decision we make and every animal we produce.
Ethical Breeding Standards
The health and welfare of our animals always come first. We breed only healthy, properly matured animals. We do not knowingly propagate genetic defects or harmful traits. We avoid over-breeding and ensure appropriate recovery periods between seasons. We maintain detailed lineage and weight records of all our animals. We provide appropriate housing, nutrition, environmental enrichment, and veterinary care.
Profit never supersedes animal welfare. |
Animal Welfare and Lifetime Responsibility
We recognize that purchasing an animal carries lifelong responsibility. We provide honest education to buyers about proper care of our species. All online customers fill out a questionnaire that gives us a starting point in the conversation to be sure proper education is provided where needed. We do not sell to individuals who are unprepared or unwilling to provide proper husbandry. We are transparent about temperament, genetics, and care requirements.
|
Respect for the Natural World
Our work exists because of the natural ecosystems that produced these species. We respect the ecological origins of every species we work with. We do not support illegal wildlife trade or unethical wild collection. We comply with all local, state, federal, and international wildlife laws. We support habitat conservation and responsible environmental stewardship. We minimize waste and environmental impact in our operations whenever possible.
|
Non-Discrimination and Inclusivity
We are committed to creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive community. We do not discriminate based on race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or socioeconomic status. We treat all clients, colleagues, and community members with professionalism and dignity. We foster diversity within the reptile community and actively oppose harassment and exclusionary behavior.
|
Diversity, Equity, and Access
We believe ethical animal keeping should be grounded in fairness and access. We provide clear, accurate education so buyers can make informed decisions. We strive for transparency in pricing and availability. We support ethical collaboration and knowledge sharing within the reptile community.
|
Transparency and Integrity
Trust is built through honesty. We accurately represent genetics, lineage, and health history. We disclose known issues openly. We honor our agreements and guarantees. We do not engage in deceptive marketing, misrepresentation or image editing beyond adding a simple watermark.
|
Community Responsibility
We believe ethical breeders elevate the entire industry. We promote responsible ownership. We discourage impulse purchases strongly and we mentor new keepers responsibly. We advocate for humane treatment of all reptiles and animals, and look forward to the positive evolution of the community.
|
Continuous Improvement
Ethics are not static, and neither are husbandry routines. We regularly evaluate our practices. We remain open to constructive criticism grounded in research backed science and proven welfare. We hold ourselves accountable to the highest standards.
