Previous Contests
Facebook Contest Active Friday, February 22nd, 2013 at 12:00pm MST!
This photo theme will be "Shades of White". I would like to focus more on the animal (any reptile, preferably gecko), but a small splash of color could add interest, so don't think only white is allowed. One thing I always try to do is be creative with my composition (except obviously the photos of my hand ;)), so I'm hoping this will be inspiration to help everyone try something new. This is my biggest contest yet, so I WILL require that your photo go along with the theme this time or you won't be eligible to win.
This is a photo of the setup I will be using for this theme (no, I'm not entering my own contest, but I will be giving examples). I threw it together in about five minutes, so it's not hard to come up with something decent. My 'splash of color' is black here, but you may add in any color you'd like... I just think white and black are very elegant. Best of luck, and I hope you can have some fun with this one!

"Shades of White" Photoshoot Examples
I will be uploading my examples here. It is a good idea to set up a good size display so your geckos can wander with gentle guidance as you photograph. Don't go with one or two photos, take lots! Out of about 300 photos, I only pulled out about 20 that were decent enough to watermark. Patience will be rewarded when it comes to photographing an active and often uncooperative animal.
