Well, time for my now semi-annual update XD. The 2018 breeding season is in full swing here and we've had some exciting events, and some hear breaking ones. My chahoua/leachianus incubation box is full, which is fantastic. Last season wasn't very productive in regards to our chahoua groups especially, so very excited to have much more variety of babies hatching out this season. With large number of cresteds still here and hatching from the 2017 season (many retained sperm), I've decided that a majority of my crested pairings will be either a partial season, or not bred this season. This gives me the ability to focus a bit more on other species projects. We've had a few very exciting additions this year. A mosaic group (1.2) just came in and will be paired up once clear of quarantine. Some really nice gargoyle babies have come in from various breeders as well as our new Sarasinorum male plus a male PI chahoua. Most exciting, however, is a pair of gargoyles that were wild caught in Yate by Frank Fast himself in 1997. That's 21 years in captivity! The female had been paired to another WC male prior to coming here, so I'm waiting on her to lay infertiles before pairing her up. The male will be paired with a couple of my other females soon. Lots of exciting projects this year, and lots of nice babies hatching out nearly daily.
Can't forget my social media updates... Instagram is currently at 5680 followers! I'll have to think about the next goal and giveaway rewards. FB is currently at 3259 likes despite my habit of no longer really posting much there. I wish I could be more active on social media, but it is so hard to find the time to create meaningful content. I will be trying to work on that a little. You can help by setting my FB page to 'see first' and/or just liking and commenting on content posted. More interactions will help encourage my posing... ;).

Been a while since I've given an update here on what is going on. Our 2017 season is winding down with all males separated, but due to our late start this year we still have quite a few eggs incubating. It has been a very successful year in regards to production numbers. We made an attempt to increase the amount of time that we hold back our babies to make sure they were well established with a little size on them prior to evaluating for sale. This was both good and bad; we quickly maxed out of space, but were able to maintain that throughout the season without getting too far into overflow while providing our customers with larger babies already starting to show good color and pattern. We're starting to take a look at finalizing our 2018 planned pairings, and I've gotta tell you... it just keeps getting better and better. We have so many fantastic holdbacks that will be breeding weight/age that we will likely need to list some current breeders to make the space (so keep an eye out for those in the spring!). As far as investment went for 2017, we purchased a number of animals that we are very excited about. Of those, we've found a suitable male sarasinorum for our killer female (finally!), sourced an unrelated pair of E. vieillardi, a nice white collar mainland chahoua male (on the lookout for a RTB female), a couple of absolutely amazing cresteds and a few of the best gargoyles I've seen out there. We will also have a partnership with Mindscape Reptiles for 2018 where we'll be breeding a majority of their collection here. Those who have been involved in the crested community for at least the last 2-5 years will know that Mindscape Reptiles have always had some of the most sought after cresteds in the market. We're honored to have a number of their animals on loan in our collection. We also have a continued loan with Emerald City Cresteds with the gorgeous Indira. She was breeding the 2017 season here with Furnace (babies are already to die for), and will be with a new male, Astraios for the 2018 season. Astraios is easily the best crested in my collection (not an easy task). We're having difficulties waiting to see what 2018 brings; whatever it is, it'll be our best yet.
Instagram continues to grow (currently 5084), and I can't thank my followers enough for the support. If you haven't checked it out yet (Gargoyle_Queen_Reptiles), be sure to follow us for (almost) daily images! The FB page is currently at 3078 likes, thank you!! We recently ran a 5k giveaway on our Instagram page and gave away a gorgeous crested gecko baby out of Orthosphoric x Mollie ($150 value). Our winner has already received their new baby, and we're so excited that the baby will be getting the best of care. Always worry a little with giveaways; never know for sure if the winner is ready to commit to an animal (even though they've entered the contest). We also ran an IG 4k giveaway earlier this year which had three winners who were able to choose between multiple product goodie bags ($50 value). Be sure to follow our social media accounts for the latest updates, news, availability announcements, deals and the occasional giveaway.
Our next reptile show will be the huge Pomona Reptile Super Show in California (Jan 6-7) where we will be vending with our gecko besties at Nightshift Exotics. Our website and availability is down for the winter, but Gift Certificates are a thing that we offer, and now you can buy them in person at the show! If you will be attending the Pomona show (or are local to Northern Utah), feel free to shoot me an email requesting a preview at some of our availability. You can put down a deposit (or pay in full) and pick up at the show (or locally). Online availability will be added again ~10-14 days prior to shipping opening back up (which we're hoping to be mid Feb at the latest). Keep an eye out for updates on that timing as we get a little closer.

It's been a slow start to our season due to waiting on updated caging from AP (19 weeks!), but we've got all our pairings together (minus a couple special ones that are still in quarantine). I'm very excited for this season... It's going to produce a lot of killer animals. I've announced a new and exciting loan the other day. We've obtained the famous Furnace (one of my top dream geckos), and have a wonderful female (Indira produced/owned by Emerald City Cresties) lined up for him plus a couple others. You can see them on the crested collection page. Another exciting 2017 loan is Inidazole is away with Nightshift Exotics paired with Kevin Bacon. We've already gotten a few babies out of that pairing, and they're high color stunners. We also have Pegasus once again (third season here) from the Crestie King paired with my lovely true creamsicle Isoleucine boy, Vasopressin. Last but not least, we have the stunning drippy yellow cream Llum on loan from Mindscape Reptiles with Summit for the 2017 season. Lots of exciting stuff! We have six Pine Island chahoua pairs this season, so I'm hoping to have a lot more chahoua to offer in the next year or so. Quite a few first year breeders, but I'm hopeful they'll get the hang of it.
Instagram is still on the rise (currently 3685). If you haven't checked it out yet (Gargoyle_Queen_Reptiles), be sure to follow us for daily images! The FB page is currently at 2809 likes, thank you!! We have the WRE this weekend, and are excited to offer some great deals/packages, lots of product and of course lots of pretty geckos. Gift Certificates are still a thing, and now you can buy them in person at the show!
I do have intentions to do a gecko giveaway when we reach 4k follows on Instagram, and to try out a couple auctions on FB. I'll probably start out with something not too expensive, and then build depending on participation. It's a way to move some animals for the new season babies and to also give you some great deals. Be sure to keep your eyes out for upcoming fun!

We had a very cold winter, and overall slower growth rates on crested babies (they are on a rack on the outside wall). There were some breeding females that refused to stop laying eggs, so we cooled even further in an attempt to get them to stop. Temperatures are warming up again, and growth/appetite has gone up. Shipping temps are warming up finally; it'll be good to have an open season again in regards to shipping availability. 2017 pairings are not together yet; we ended 2016 kind of late. They should be paired up within the next three weeks. We have a lot of amazing groups for this season, and it'll be great to see so many multi-generational GQR babies hatching out.
Instagram had a growth spurt since I finally figured out how to work it (currently 2853). If you haven't checked it out yet (Gargoyle_Queen_Reptiles), be sure to follow us for daily images! The FB page is currently at 2707 likes, thank you!! I've decided to continue offering my GQR certificates I started over the holiday season, so if you want to do a payment plan but can't get over the minimum $400... this is a way to cheat through that. The only catch is that you can't reserve a gecko (if purchase is under $400) without paying in full within two weeks. So, you can contribute money whenever you can/want into certificates to redeem when you have enough on any gecko that is available (hope that made sense)!
It's going to be an exciting year.... Can't wait to see what comes of it!

December 19th, 2016 2017 pairings have started to be listed, but are not 100% set until groups are paired up in the spring. Availability has been taken down over the winter as safe shipping is impossible. That will open back up hopefully late February/early March at the latest. I've made up some gift certificates for the winter season though, so if you'd like to gift an amount to someone (customizable) or to yourself (great way to pay a little now, and a little later to break up payments longer than my payment plans allow), shoot me an email! I've even modified my logo for the holidays to give gc purchashers a pdf coupon/certificate to print out to gift something physical. Check it out ->!

I've started playing around with 2017 potential pairings, and I'm just wowed. It's going to be an amazing year, I'm so excited to have so many GQR holdback babies breeding (6.18 GQR gargoyles, 5.9 GQR cresteds, 0.3 GQR PI chahoua), as well as many of my other outstanding outsourced breeders (12.34 gargoyles and 9.22 cresteds total as of right now). We'll also have 4 or 5 PI chahoua pairs (as of right now) depending on weights, and our 1.1 F2 Nuu Ami Snowflake pair will continue to be paired.
Instagram has continued to grow slowly (currently 326). If you haven't checked it out yet (Gargoyle_Queen_Reptiles), be sure to follow us! The FB page is currently at 2590 likes, thank you!! Our temperatures are starting to get pretty cold, so I'm thinking we'll only be able to ship out to the second week of December (if temperatures allow). Once that closes, we won't be selling or shipping any animals until we get close to warming up in the spring. Traditionally, we can start shipping late February/early March so we'll likely start offering animals for sale again in February. If you'd like to take advantage of my current crested special, and get a gecko or two before the season closes, better get that order in quick!

We finished up vending the Twin Falls Reptile Expo last weekend, and again had a lot of fun vending with Night Shift Exotics. I picked up a Ghost Mantis nymph (L3?), and am having way too much fun playing with her. I'm contemplating the possibility of getting a breeding group of these going since you really don't see them offered at Utah at shows. As far as show schedules go for 2017, we've added a bunch of new additional shows in the west that we are going to consider vending with our friends at Night Shift Exotics. We'll start looking at schedules when dates for the shows are up and will start making some decisions there.
Our 2016 season is still going strong as far as eggs go, but we are starting to cool down our geckos to wrap up the season. I will be selling off a number of my breeders (both cresteds and gargoyles) since I have so many holdbacks that will be ready to breed in 2017. I can't keep expanding, so tough decisions will be made on some of my animals. Keep an eye out for that!
I started up a new instagram account this summer (finally), and have been slowly gaining followers there. If you haven't checked it out yet (Gargoyle_Queen_Reptiles), be sure to do so! The FB page is currently at 2448 likes, thank you!! We will be celebrating the 2.5k like benchmark with a gecko giveaway in appreciation of our followers, customers and friends. I am also considering starting up a few gecko auctions where you will have the opportunity to obtain some nice GQR geckos for less than retail. If you help me spread the word when the time comes and we increase interest and interaction, we will keep running them! Keep an eye on my FB page for updates and announcements. :)

Super quick update... I attended the Tinley Park NARBC show with my good friend Jessica @ Nightshift Exotics to hunt down some chahoua. (Side note: She is seriously my favorite gecko gal!) We didn't vend, but sure enjoyed all the free time to wander, oogle and photograph all the animals. We were successful in getting our hands on some nice animals, and so we're happy to announce the expansion of our chahoua collection. We hope to continue adding exceptional animals.
The FB page is currently at 2198 likes, thank you!! I'm hoping that 2016 will be a fantastic year. Most of our females are paired for the season, some males have been added to their groups. Still waiting to be sure our other girls are good together before adding in the additional stress of eager males. Stay tuned for updates, release dates, and some upcoming contests and giveaways!

Went to check out the Geckos Live! exhibit at the Natural History Museum of Utah over the weekend (https://nhmu.utah.edu/geckos). There were more enclosures than I thought, which were extremely well put together and detailed. Gorgeous pieces and setups I'm hoping will help inspire my backgrounds a little. If you are able to visit the exhibit, I would recommend it. There were a few issues/things I'd like to point out though. The quality of the animals on display weren't great in most cases. There were mostly easy to obtain, cheap animals and the animals that were a little more pricey (like a leachianus with a spinal kink at the base of his tail) weren't impressive specimens. There was a large enclosure with many Tokays that were a bit beat up. There was a Crested Gecko enclosure that housed two males and two females (that I could see) of very low quality. I want to point out to those who may see this and find this post that males should NOT be housed together. They can be very aggressive towards each other, even with ample space provided. I was a little surprised.
Overall, the quality of the exhibit displays was worth the entrance cost. I was impressed with the enclosures, and it was fun to see so many people excited to learn about geckos. There were some videos and interactive pieces that were interesting. I just wish the overall quality of the geckos was a little better, but since I'm used to high quality, I guess I'm more difficult to impress.

Quick update/announcement! I've been working on an updated logo, and have just posted it officially. My original logo has been good to me (2010-2015), but I believe that the updated version has come at a perfect time. Here's hoping for a fantastic 2016!

Today is a very exciting day! Nuu Ami leachie baby number two just hatched out, and it's a nice big beautiful high snowflake. We hatched quite the unique baby (leachie baby #1, Fireball) November 1st that caused quite the stir in interest. That one was bright red all over at hatch with tons of deep red snowflakes. I'm hopeful that the third baby will hatch out soon. Absinthe is currently a monstrous 265 grams and I'm thinking she may lay another clutch soon, fingers crossed they're fertile. Although all my male geckos have been separated for a couple of months and our temps are in their 'winter' phase, we're still getting a number of eggs from my gargoyles. I still have a few clutches of late lays in the incubator for cresteds, but no new eggs for a while now for them. Gargoyles on the other hand have laid another round, and I'm hoping they're done now. Especially those that have laid in the last 3 weeks. I'm somewhere around 30 garg eggs currently.
Currently, I cannot ship any animals out. I have put up a passcode on my available pages for December, January and possibly part of February. I hope to take this down a couple of weeks prior to shipping temperatures in 2016. If you are local to Northern Utah or will be attending the Pomona Reptile Super Show in January (9-10) and would like to schedule a pickup, let me know and I will get you access to the available page.
My 2016 breeding plans are really coming together, and we have some fantastic pairings on all fronts. I have some geckos on loan (both here and out), and I'm very excited for those collaborations. Among those, we have a gorgeous white U. sikorae female from Mindscape Reptiles that is RTB... But I need to find her a nice male for 2016. I also have something very very exciting in the works that has just become official. I can't disclose anything for a while about it and it will be tough. On another note, Facebook is now at 2102 likes! I hope that next year it will continue to grow and we can push past another milestone. Thank you everyone!

We just finished our last expo of the year and it was a great show to end on. We love our customers and fans. You guys are all so awesome! Thank you for giving your support, I really appreciate it. We have officially crossed the 2000 likes barrier on our Facebook page (as of today). It has been a great year, and to celebrate I will be announcing a special and a giveaway here shortly. I hope to see lots of participation, so I guess I'd better do something fun and different than what I've done in the past. It is starting to get colder, so I hope we can make a last shipping push before it gets too cold.
Our season is winding down and males are mostly separated, though I didn't make that happen until later than I had originally hoped. Our geckos have reduced their laying and are getting ready for the winter cool down. Looking ahead at 2016, we have many exciting possibilities including a few interesting and very awesome breeding loans that we are very excited about. I'm expecting that next year will be just as big if not better than 2015 and am already looking forward to seeing next seasons kids. It will also produce our first GQR F3 generation of babies if all goes well.

Quick update (already?!) Just found a FERTILE clutch of leachie eggs out of Jäger and Absinthe!! OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG... If you've read any of these updates... You'll know that I've been struggling with my F2 Nuu Ami pairing since 2013. Their first clutch this season was one lone infertile egg which was rather disheartening. But hurrah! We now have some fertiles cooking! As for other eggs... We have the first clutch from most of our gecko girls (which is a crap ton), and only waiting on a few stragglers. Starting to get the second clutch out of some girls. So far so good!
On another note, FB is now at 1880 likes. We had quite the storm of sales over the last couple of months... Sold a record number and am running low on available gargoyles (just added a few more, some were late hatches, some were holdbacks being released). Still have a good number of really nice cresteds priced lower than most of similar quality, but I don't really advertise and I'm not really know for my cresteds... Yet. I am the Gargoyle Queen after all. :)

This season is going to be short and sweet for the most part. I've given all my females extra time to rest and bulk up before I start up this season, and plan on ending it a little early (September) for most so we can get an early start in 2016. We have a surprise gecko coming in to breed with Summit (one of my best crested geckos) who will probably arrive in the next couple weeks. I'm excited to receive her as a breeding loan as she was produced in the Netherlands, so she'll bring some nice fresh genetics in and be amazing with Summit. Absinthe and Jäger are paired up and showing very promising signs. Fingers crossed for finally having leachie babies in 2015. The GQR facebook page now has 1811 likes, pretty good for my minimal posting. I do mean to do some sort of giveaway or contest... But have just been too busy to get around to logistics. I HAVE to do something for 2000 likes though. I think that's a pretty big milestone for such a small specialized business/hobby, and I couldn't have done it without all of my friends of GQR.
I have started playing around with creating various insertable backgrounds. These are non-toxic, heat resistant, waterproof and feel like rock. They have a styrofoam core and are each hand sculpted and painted. For now, I'm making them for my own animals to be sure that they can withstand gecko claws and be easy to clean. A few select pieces will likely be offered this year at the various shows we plan on attending. So far I've had good feedback on them, so we'll see what this new venture brings.
Now for the 2015 season: We have 31 gargoyle females, 15 crested females, 3 PI chahoua females (third is a possible, as I still need to find the right male for her), one Nuu Ami leachie pair and one U. henkeli pair. I gauge it by females, because they're the egg producers and it gives a greater respect for the amount of work I will be doing this season. That's a lot of potential babies, and I house every non-breeding animal in its separate enclosure. If you read back to my May 13, 2014 post... I list my 2014 female numbers. Yeah, I've expanded again. It's ok if you don't feel bad for me, I understand. ;)
